   About Math Kangaroo

  • Math Kangaroo is world's one of the largest Math Competition.

  • More than 80 countries participate in this contest. Mathematicians all around the world help make the Math Kangaroo questions.

  • There are over 6 million participants throughout the world.

   

   Registration Info for Math Kangaroo

   Registration for 2024 : SEPTEMBER 15th 2023– DECEMBER 15th 2023 ( $21 per student)

   Late Registration : DECEMBER 16th 2023 – DECEMBER 31st 2023 ( $35 per student)

   Awards

  • Gold medals will be awarded to the top 5% of competitors; silver medals will be awarded to the next top 10% of competitors, and bronze medals will be awarded to the next top 10% of competitors. All medalists will be presented with merit certificates. Others will receive a participation or appreciation certificate.

  •  Only an e-certificate will be given for appreciation and participation.

   Frequently Asked Questions :

   Who can take the test?
  • Students from grades 1 to 12 can take this test.

  • Grade 1 and Grade 2 students will take the same test paper but will be ranked separately.

        Same applies for Grade 3 & 4 , Grade 5 & 6, Grade 7 & 8, Grade 9 & 10 and Grade 11 & 12.

   
   What is the medium of the Test?
  • Medium of the test is in-person or online (only at schools and educational institutions). 

       Here what you can expect for the 2023 season:

  • Only students participating in the competition at the centers (in-person or online) and proctored by an approved Math Kangaroo manager will be eligible to receive T-shirts/participation gifts, the official ranking, awards etc.

  • There will still be an opportunity to participate for students at home, proctored or not proctored by a parent, but the ranking will not be public. There will not be individual t-shirts/gifts/awards sent to home as it was during the last two pandemic years. Math Kangaroo will only send a postcard/flier 1 month before the competition with important competition information, dates and the coupons/discount codes.

   What are the Topics covered?
  • The students solve Math Logic questions that require knowledge of multiple Math topics as well as logical thinking capability.

   
   When is the Test Conducted?
  • Every year in the middle of March - usually the 3rd Thursday in March.

   
   What is the Format of the test?
  • The competition is a multiple-choice test.

  • The paper contains 24 questions for Grade 1- 4 and 30 questions for Grade 5 - 12.

  • The test for Grade 1&2 and Grade 3&4 is of 75 minutes duration and contains 24 questions. These are grouped equally under three levels of increasing difficulty.

  • As per the level of difficulties following points are awarded:

             Easy Questions: 3 points for each correct answer.( 8 Questions)

             Medium Questions: 4 points for each correct answer. ( 8 Questions)

             Hard Questions: 5 points for each correct answer. ( 8 Questions)

             Maximum Score: 96 points.
